How do you like to keep active? What activities do you enjoy the most?
My favorite activities have always been running and going for long walks/hikes. Every Saturday, I attend Parkrun with my family, which is a great way to kickstart your weekend! Most recently, I’ve started to attend crossfit sessions, which I’ve been really enjoying and they have become a new part of my weekly routine.
Why do you feel it is important to lead a physically active lifestyle?
It’s important for me to stay healthy, which is my number one priority. I like to be strong and fit, to be able to easily carry out any physical task I’m faced with in everyday life. It also boosts my overall mental health - nothing beats the feeling after a good workout!
How does the Active Hub platform support your physical movement?
Taking part in the Active Hub challenges keeps me accountable and motivates me to stay active even on the days I don’t feel like doing anything. During team challenges, I don’t want to let my team down, so it pushes me to be moving every day and get my point! The challenges also give me a bit of a competitive edge, meaning I push myself more than I normally would!
How has participating in Active Hub events helped increase your engagement with other colleagues?
For the team challenges, we have a team Whatsapp group set up to motivate each other and stay in touch throughout! It’s been a great way to engage with some of my colleagues and get us talking about how we stay active. We also engage with other teams for some friendly competition, encouraging others to join the challenges, creating a little Active Hub community!
Has having the Active Hub in place via your employer enabled you to lead a more active lifestyle?
I’ve always been active however Active Hub has pushed me to be active every single day, even if it’s just a 20 minute walk, it’s better than nothing!
What is your current active goal?
My current goal is training for my third half marathon, during which I want to achieve a PB! I’m also working on building my upper body strength during CrossFit sessions – very determined to nail the kip swings and toes-to-bar!
What I’ve realised is that being active isn’t about intensity – it’s about consistency. Small daily movement leads to lasting results and health!
