How do you like to keep active? What activities do you enjoy the most?
I’m usually found on one of my bikes (my poor partner calls me Ms Multi-pack as I like to have something for every occasion) or walking the countryside trails around Dorset and Devon.
Why do you feel it is important to lead a physically active lifestyle?
We spend so much of our time doing things for others and meeting our commitments that it can be hard to take time for ourselves as well. I find it so important to make sure I plan in time to enjoy the activities I’ve come to love as it one of the main ways I’ve come to connect with my own wellbeing and plan for my future health.
How does the Active Hub platform support your physical movement?
Active Hub has been great for me to set different targets each month and help to keep my active schedule more varied. I love that it helps me stay in touch with other colleagues who are also achieving their own goals and share in each other success.
How has participating in team events helped increase your engagement with other colleagues?
Locally, we’re just at the beginning of our journey on Active Hub but in May it was really great to see colleagues for different depots and grades being involved in the Move for 30 challenge and competing alongside people from all over the business.
Has having the Active Hub in place via your employer enabled you to lead a more active lifestyle?
Active Hub has really helped me to stay focused and encouraged me to get out and do the things I love on those days when I’d rather stay in bed. I always feel better about myself mentally and physically after I’ve done that activity, sometimes I just need that helping hand to nudge me along, Active Hub has been amazing for that.
What is your current active goal?
Currently I’m partaking in the Move for 30: The Games and Active August challenges on Active Hub and have personal challenges for completing another 100mile bike ride in August as well as continued weight loss.
My current active journey began in 2022 after a nasty car accident that left me immobile for two months and faced with the prospect of limited mobility. This was a real wake up call for me that I had to make the most of the opportunities I had. Since then, I have lost 3 and a half stone, become much more active and started leading a healthier lifestyle.
